Sowbug Roundup Guest of Honor
Davy Wotton
Davy is one of the world’s foremost experts on the arts and science of fly fishing the traditional wet fly. Which makes him a perfect choice for the Guest of Honor at a the next Sowbug Roundup, which will have a focus on the “Elegant Wet Fly”.
Davy caught his first fish in the early 1950’s and that started him on a life-long pursuit of fly-fishing perfection. This included everything from recreational fishing, professional fishing, fly tying materials manufacturer, industry consultant, conservation leader, fly tying expert, TV personality, guide, speaker, author, and teacher. Davy has been inducted into the Fly-Fishing Museum of the Southern Appalachians Hall of Fame – a well-deserved honor. Above all, Davy cherishes the friendships he has developed through decades of fly fishing and fly tying.
Through all these experiences and relationships, Davy has developed a wealth of fly-fishing and fly-tying knowledge that he uses to teach others how to improve their fly-fishing skills.
Davy will be in the featured tyer area, he will do a couple of presentations on the art and science of wet fly fishing, and "compete" in a wet-fly tie off "against" Tim Flagler. The best part - Davy will be around the floor for some good conversation.
